The result of more than two years of research and reflection, but above all thanks to all the children, OVUM was founded in 2004 by Lionel SERIK, simultaneously in Quebec and then in France. Nehru saw young people as the future of his country, and the most tangible evidence of this is becoming clear: children are much more capable of achieving real charitable feats than we “grown-ups” are. They are able to implement all the major humanitarian projects necessary for the better future of the planet and its species, whether human, animal, or plant.

It always starts with a dream…
Let’s Clean the World • 1999 • Anelia Jotova, Age 10 – Bulgaria

A 6-year-old child dreams of providing drinking water to all of Africa! Another, aged 12, dreams of freeing all the martyred children of the planet! An 8-year-old wants to collect school supplies for all schools in poor countries. In doing so, one has already installed more than 00 wells and pumps in some 15 countries, providing drinking water to nearly half a million people. www.ryanswell.ca The other has built around 500 schools, providing daily education to more than 40,000 young people and changing the lives of millions of them in around 50 countries! www.freethechildren.com And this is just the beginning.

Faced with simple observations that lead to instant awareness and spontaneous initiatives, these budding young leaders are increasingly inspiring their peers, who literally see them as true heroes, a totally revolutionary phenomenon called “Children Empowerment.”

Moreover, realizing that this is happening from an early age and, above all, on their own initiative, we asked ourselves some serious questions and arrived at some unavoidable answers. The most important of these conclusions is that only children themselves can and must take control of their future, both in the short and long term. As for us adults, we must remain steadfast in our determination to help them bring about these vital changes for a better future! They are more than capable of making a difference for tomorrow, starting today, with integrity and efficiency.

That is why we created the organization OVUM – “Women & Children First” with the aim of guiding them more specifically through arts and culture. These are the fundamental pillars of a legitimate education that encompasses all artistic and cultural disciplines. They are essential catalysts that motivated us to form this charitable association to help children flourish and express themselves, to build and create. A few pilot projects at the local and regional level were launched when this dream was born in 2004. Today, it is a national and international project that is taking shape and becoming a reality.
